Ulm Customs’ Dornstadt Info Day Attracts 2,500 Visitors

On Sunday, the Hauptzollamt Ulm held an information day at the former jet‑fuel station on the B10 near Dornstadt. Around 2,500 people, many families with children, attended between 10:00 and 18:00.

Visitors watched demonstrations by detection and search‑dog teams, staged black‑work inspections, and visited stands explaining duty‑free allowances, consumption taxes and seized goods. The customs’ mobile X‑ray van showed smugglers’ hiding places, while a special‑operations unit displayed equipment and vehicles. The Technical Relief Agency (Technisches Hilfswerk) provided food and showcased its own rescue resources. Children enjoyed police‑car rides and a photo booth, and many took part in a customs quiz. No incidents were reported, and first‑aid staff treated only minor cuts. The top prize was a customs boat cruise on Lake Constance.
