Ulpiano Suarez proposes legal alternative to restart Estación Mendoza project

Ulpiano Suarez, the mayor of Mendoza, has submitted a formal legal proposal to the Argentine national government to revive the stalled Estación Mendoza megaproject. The 24-hectare initiative, involving valuable railway lands in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, has faced bureaucratic paralysis due to the Agency for the Administration of State Assets (AABE) halting the authorization of land auctions.

To bypass this deadlock, the municipality has proposed using the constitutional figure of ‘delegation of management.’ Under this arrangement, the municipality would take responsibility for executing the public auction of the unused lands and managing the necessary basic infrastructure works.

The proposal outlines a financial mechanism where the municipality would transfer the remaining funds from the auction to the Nation after completing required urbanization works, following local bidding procedures and proper accountability.
