Ulrich Siegmund featured as comic hero in Compact magazine

Ulrich Siegmund, the Alternative for Germany (AfD) lead candidate for the upcoming state election in Saxony-Anhalt, has been featured as a comic book hero in the right-wing magazine "Compact."

The magazine's new comic, titled "Ulli rettet Deutschland" (Ulli saves Germany), positions Siegmund as a central figure in its merchandising. While "Compact" is not an official organ of the AfD, the party's parliamentary group previously showed solidarity with the publisher following a failed attempt by the Federal Ministry of the Interior to ban the organization in 2024. The ban was overturned by the Federal Administrative Court in June 2025.

Siegmund, a member of the state parliament since 2016, is leading the AfD in Saxony-Anhalt ahead of the September 6 election. Recent polling indicates the AfD holds a significant lead in the region, with 41 percent support compared to 24 percent for the CDU.
