Ulrikke Eikeri exits US Open doubles after controversial loss

Ulrikke Eikeri and her American partner Quinn Gleason were eliminated in the first round of the US Open women's doubles tournament. The 15th-seeded duo faced unseeded pair Moyuka Uchijima of Japan and Xinyu Wang of China.

The match was marked by physical struggles for Gleason, who required a medical timeout and appeared to be limping on the hardcourt. Despite leading 3-0 in the deciding third set, the duo was unable to maintain momentum as Uchijima and Wang leveled the score.

The match also featured significant video review drama. During a critical point at 40-40, a ruling regarding whether Gleason had hit the ball with her racket was overturned. Later, a dispute arose over whether a ball had bounced twice before Gleason returned it. Following a video review, the point was awarded to the Asian duo, who eventually secured a 7-5 victory in the final set.

Eikeri remains the sole Norwegian representative at the US Open following the non-qualification of Nicolai Budkov Kjær and the withdrawal of Casper Ruud due to back injuries.
