User commissions in Seixal and Almada have reported the discontinuation of voluntary termination of pregnancy (IVG) consultations at the ULS Almada-Seixal health unit. The suspension, which reportedly began on August 10, is attributed to a lack of human resources.
Patient commissions expressed concern that the shift to private clinics in Lisbon introduces bureaucratic hurdles that could impede access to these services. In response, the ULS stated that the decision was a temporary measure to ensure timely and safe responses through a protocol with an establishment recognized by the Directorate-General of Health. The health unit expects the situation to be resolved shortly.
