ULS Lezíria implements medical device traceability system

The Unidade Local de Saúde da Lezíria (ULS Lezíria) has completed the implementation of a new management and traceability system for medical devices within its Sterilization Unit. The technological solution involved an investment of €119,511.72, funded by the Alentejo 2030 Regional Program as part of the broader “Lezíria + Saúde” project, which has a total value of €896,906.23.

The system allows for the complete tracking of medical devices throughout their entire circuit, from initial requisition to use and reprocessing. This enables the Sterilization Unit to plan activities more efficiently, respond faster to clinical needs, and ensure rigorous control over the sterilization stages and treatment processes each device undergoes.

The project is currently in a consolidation phase, progressively integrating hospital clinical services and primary healthcare units. The implementation complies with European Regulation (EU) 2017/745 and national legislation, aiming to enhance patient safety and operational efficiency through improved digital oversight.
