ULS Lezíria to host I Symposium of Audiology in Santarém

The Unidade Local de Saúde da Lezíria (ULS Lezíria) will host the I Symposium of Audiology on October 9 at the Hospital de Santarém. The event marks World Audiologist Day and focuses on the theme ‘Hearing, Dementia and Vertigo in the Elderly: from Prevention to Rehabilitation.’

The symposium aims to bring together multidisciplinary health professionals to discuss the connections between hearing, cognition, and balance in the elderly population. Scheduled panels will cover neuropsychological assessment, the clinical relationship between hearing and cognition, and the impact of auditory rehabilitation on dementia.

A second panel will address vertigo and fall prevention, specifically focusing on vestibular rehabilitation for older adults. The event will conclude with a cultural presentation and the launch of the book ‘Não se Esqueça de se Lembrar – Desafios Cognitivos para Adultos e Idosos’.
