Ulsan City allocates 160 billion won for water supply improvements
Ulsan City has announced a 160 billion won budget for its 2027 waterworks special account, a 5% increase from the 152.5 billion won allocated in 2026. The budget, which includes revenue from previous rate increases and national government support, aims to modernize aging infrastructure and expand service to outlying areas.
Approximately 24% of Ulsan’s 3,815km water pipe network is over 30 years old. To address this, the city will utilize 52 billion won in national funding from the Ministry of Climate, Energy, and Environment to implement an AI and IoT-based smart pipe management system, replace aging pipes in 13 locations, and clean pipes in six areas.
The city also plans to expand water supply to four regions, including Banyeong Village in Beomseo-eup, to reduce reliance on groundwater and valley water. Additionally, 15.2 billion won will be invested in renovating water treatment plants, reservoirs, and pumping stations to ensure a stable and clean water supply.
