Ulsan launches committee to attract public institutions

Ulsan Metropolitan City has launched the ‘Ulsan Metropolitan City Public Institution 2nd Relocation Attraction Committee’ to spearhead efforts to bring government agencies to the region. The committee, comprising representatives from labor, business, academia, and civil society, aims to build public consensus and coordinate with the central government and National Assembly.

The city’s strategy focuses on integrating its existing manufacturing strengths in automobiles, shipbuilding, and petrochemicals with the specialized functions of public institutions. Ulsan aims to position itself as a strategic hub for the national industrial transition by targeting three key sectors: energy and power generation, finance, and industrial Artificial Intelligence (AI) transition (AX).

Specific goals include attracting integrated headquarters for power generation public enterprises, the Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning, and the Korea Petroleum Management Institute. Additionally, the city seeks to attract the headquarters of the Industrial Bank of Korea to support small and medium-sized enterprises within its growing AI data center and advanced manufacturing ecosystem.
