UltiMaker and Bioactivx partner for 3D-printed wound care

UltiMaker and Singapore-based medtech startup Bioactivx have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop a decentralized, on-demand 3D printing solution for regenerative wound care. The collaboration aims to bring medical production closer to patients through scalable, deployable technology.

Bioactivx recently achieved several regulatory milestones, including ISO 13485 certification and approval from Singapore’s Health Sciences Authority (HSA) for its flagship product, the Bioactiv Matrix. The Bioactiv Matrix is a synthetic, animal-free artificial skin substitute designed to accelerate wound closure and reduce scarring in cases of acute and chronic wounds, such as severe burns and abrasions.

The production process utilizes a digital workflow where Bioactivx compounds a proprietary active-ingredient filament and uses a fleet of UltiMaker 3D printers within a certified cleanroom print farm. Bioactivx is currently pursuing regulatory submissions in the United States, the European Union, Australia, and the ASEAN region.
