Ultragenyx to sell rare disease priority review voucher for US$210M

Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical Inc. has agreed to sell a rare pediatric disease priority review voucher for US$210 million. The voucher was earned following the FDA's accelerated approval of Genglycos, a gene therapy for glycogen storage disease type Ia, in August.

The sale of this asset is intended to provide non-dilutive capital to support the company's development of therapies for rare and ultra-rare diseases and to assist its path toward profitability. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including the expiration of the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act. Ultragenyx has not disclosed the identity of the buyer or the expected closing date.
