Ultrahuman launches Heart Scan feature for smart rings
Ultrahuman, an Indian digital health technology company, has launched ‘Heart Scan,’ a new feature for its Ring Air and Ring Pro smart rings. Developed in collaboration with the Belgian company FibriCheck, the feature allows eligible users to perform an on-demand heart rhythm check in approximately 60 seconds via the Ultrahuman app.
Unlike the existing automated atrial fibrillation (AFib) screening that occurs during sleep, Heart Scan enables users to monitor their pulse manually when they feel irregularities. During the scan, users must remain still while the ring captures pulse signals, which are then analyzed by FibriCheck algorithms. Results are displayed in the app as regular, possibly irregular, possible atrial fibrillation, low signal quality, or inconclusive.
The system can generate PDF reports containing pulse data and tachograms for users to share with medical professionals. Ultrahuman noted that the feature is not a substitute for medical evaluation and cannot detect heart attacks or myocardial infarctions. The service is available in several regions, including the United Kingdom, Europe, the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific region.
