Ultralight Aircraft Crash Near Pasiano, Italy Injures Passenger

An ultralight Fly Synthesis Texan piloted by 72‑year‑old Gabriele Maronese took off at 20:20 from a nearby airfield and crashed after traveling about one kilometre near Pasiano, Italy. The aircraft struck a large oak tree in a wooded area on Via San Martino, breaking apart. Maronese escaped by climbing down the tree and was later discharged from the hospital.

The 65‑year‑old passenger, Sergio Campaner, was thrown 12 metres to the ground when a branch gave way, suffering severe injuries to his feet and losing consciousness. He was rescued by emergency services and air‑lifted to a hospital in Treviso, where he remains in intensive care. The Pordenone prosecutor’s office has sealed the crash site, and Carabinieri, together with scientific experts, are conducting investigations. Authorities are examining two main hypotheses: a sudden mechanical failure of the ultralight or human error during the flight.
