Muzaffer Şirin detained in Istanbul on multiple charges
Muzaffer Şirin, known as Sebahattin Şirin and the leader of the Galatasaray supporter group ultrAslan, has been detained in Istanbul. The detention follows an investigation by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's Bureau for Illegal Betting and Sports Crimes.
Şirin faces multiple charges, including violating Law No. 6222 regarding violence and disorder in sports, organized black market ticket fraud, drug possession and use, and the public dissemination of misleading information. The investigation was also prompted by social media posts in which Şirin made allegations regarding Justice Minister Akın Gürlek and potential interference in football championship outcomes.
During an 8.5-hour search of Şirin's residence, police seized an unlicensed handgun, 141 rounds of ammunition, and four ballistic vests. Authorities also uncovered a significant amount of wealth, estimated at approximately 65 million TL, consisting of various currencies (including Euro, US Dollars, and British Pounds), gold, and jewelry.
