UltraTech Cement joins LeadIT as Holcim acquires Fermacell

UltraTech Cement has joined the Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT) to support the global shift toward low-carbon cement and concrete. Announced in New Delhi, the membership aims to advance industrial decarbonization through innovation and collaboration with governments and other stakeholders. UltraTech, which has a global grey cement capacity of 205.5 million tonnes per year, has set a target to deliver carbon-neutral concrete by 2050.

In a separate industry development, Holcim has entered an agreement to acquire Fermacell from James Hardie Industries plc for €840 million. Fermacell, headquartered in Dusseldorf, Germany, is a provider of sustainable walling and flooring solutions with projected 2026 net sales of approximately €430 million. The acquisition is part of Holcim’s NextGen Growth 2030 strategy to expand its high-value Building Solutions and integrated building systems across European markets.
