UltraTech Cement reports 21% profit jump in September quarter

UltraTech Cement reported a strong financial performance for the September quarter, with net profit increasing by 21.3% to 1,493.77 crore rupees compared to the same period last year. The company’s operating income rose 18.8% to 23,295.07 crore rupees, while net sales grew 18.9% to 23,024 crore rupees.

Growth was driven by a 13.8% increase in grey cement sales, reaching 359.4 lakh tonnes, and improved capacity utilization, which rose from 66% to 71%. Despite these gains, profit margins faced pressure, dipping from 16.9% to 16.6% due to rising costs for electricity, fuel, and raw materials. Specifically, expenses related to power and fuel increased by 24%.

The unaudited results, reviewed by Deloitte Haskins & Sells LLP, comply with Indian Accounting Standards and SEBI regulations. The company attributed its performance to improved operations, expanded market reach, and a focus on premium products, even while navigating challenges such as the monsoon and geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
