UltraTech Cement to deploy 600+ electric trucks by 2026

UltraTech Cement, an Aditya Birla Group company, has announced plans to expand its electric vehicle fleet to more than 600 heavy-duty electric trucks by December 2026. The initiative aims to scale up electrification within its logistics operations to support the company’s Net Zero commitments.

The fleet will transport approximately five million metric tonnes of clinker and other essential materials annually across seven Indian states: Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Odisha. Once fully operational, the transition is expected to reduce annual CO2 emissions by more than 117,000 tonnes, which is equivalent to displacing roughly 39 million litres of diesel per year.

To implement this, UltraTech has signed service contracts with several electric vehicle manufacturers and providers, including Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, IPLTech, Energy in Motion, and Sany. The strategy covers the entire supply chain, including mine-to-plant movement and inter-plant transport.
