Ultravasan 90 to host record 2,300 runners in Nordic ultra-race

The Ultravasan 90, scheduled for Saturday, August 15, is set to become the largest ultra-distance race in the Nordic region with over 2,300 registered participants. The 92-kilometer trail race follows the classic Vasaloppet route from Sälen to Mora and will serve as the Swedish Championships (SM) and Veteran-SM for trail running.

Organizers have introduced several logistical improvements to enhance the participant experience. These include an expanded start area in Berga to help runners stay warm, increased toilet facilities, and a more efficient system for managing gear via drop bags at the Evertsberg checkpoint. To manage crowd flow, the start will feature five different entry waves based on expected finish times, with the first two waves reserved for elite and championship competitors.

Additionally, course modifications have been made to prevent congestion at the highest point of the Vasaloppet route, including widening paths and constructing a new crossing over a ditch. On the competitive side, Olle Meijer is noted as a favorite to win his fourth consecutive title in the men's category.
