Ulubaba Hill UHF repeater launched to boost disaster communications
The Radio Amateurs of Turkey (TRAC) has officially commissioned a new UHF repeater located at the 2,500-meter summit of Ulubaba Hill to strengthen amateur radio infrastructure and disaster communication capacity in the Adıyaman region.
Licensed by the TRAC Şanlıurfa branch, the system underwent field testing that confirmed coverage across the entirety of Adıyaman. The signal also successfully reached parts of Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, and Kahramanmaraş, as well as specific areas in Osmaniye, Hatay (near Antakya), Malatya, and Elazığ.
The project was completed through the efforts of numerous volunteers, led by TRAC Adıyaman Representative Cengiz Gümüş and TRAC Şanlıurfa Board Member Mustafa Özbakır, with technical support from Efe Özçağlar and Hüseyin Odabaş. TRAC officials stated that they will continue to monitor system performance and plan further technical interventions to address any identified deficiencies and optimize coverage.
