Ulusal Birlik Partisi responds to Girne Mayor Murat Şenkul
The National Unity Party (UBP) has issued a formal response to criticisms made by Girne Mayor Murat Şenkul regarding recent judicial incidents and government performance. The UBP accused Şenkul of using recent legal events for political opportunism and attempting to create a false perception of a lack of state authority and security.
Addressing concerns over immigration, the UBP stated that the amnesty program is not intended to pardon criminals, but rather to reduce informality and bring residents under official registration and supervision. The party further rejected Şenkul's criticisms of the administration, asserting that the Prime Minister and relevant ministers are actively performing their duties. The UBP criticized Şenkul for acting more like the leader of the CTP rather than focusing on his responsibilities as the Mayor of Girne, and argued that his rhetoric regarding security could harm the nation's economy and tourism.
