Ulvsunda sports center opens in former Stockholm brewery

The Ulvsunda sports center, one of Northern Europe’s largest sports facilities, has officially opened in western Stockholm. Located in the former Pripps brewery in Ulvsunda, the project repurposes a culturally protected industrial building into a modern hub for movement and sports.

Developed by S:t Erik Markutveckling and Skanska, with White Arkitekter serving as the architect, the facility covers approximately 20,000 square meters. It is designed to host over 15 different sports and approximately 100 associations. The project serves as a key component of the first stage in the development of Bällsta hamn.

The transformation focused on circular construction and minimal intervention to preserve the building's historical character. Key architectural features, such as the monumental concrete arches in the former bottling hall, have been maintained. The project utilized recycled materials, including over 3,000 refurbished seats sourced from the Avicii Arena, to minimize climate impact.
