Uma Kashvi becomes youngest player to secure WPL contract

Fifteen-year-old Karnataka all-rounder Uma Kashvi (also known as Kashvi Kandikuppa) has become the youngest player to secure a Women's Premier League (WPL) contract. She was selected by the Delhi Capitals during the WPL 2027 mini-auction held in Kochi for her base price of 10 lakh rupees.

A right-handed batter and off-spin bowler, Kashvi has demonstrated significant domestic success. In the BCCI Women's Under-15 One-Day Trophy, she scored 516 runs at an average of 172, including three centuries. Reports indicate she has scored over 13,000 runs in 530 age-group matches for Karnataka, featuring 24 centuries and 68 half-centuries.

Kashvi expressed her gratitude to the Delhi Capitals, noting her desire to learn from team captain Jemimah Rodrigues. Her selection breaks the previous record held by Diya Yadav, who was signed at age 16.
