UMaine Running Back Rashawn Marshall Aims to Add Power for Upcoming Season

Rashawn Marshall, the University of Maine's redshirt freshman running back, posted 684 rushing yards on 128 carries (5.3 yards per carry) and four rushing touchdowns last season, while also contributing 21 receptions for 147 yards and a receiving touchdown. After being named a Phil Steele Freshman All‑American and earning an All‑Coastal Athletic Association preseason honorable‑mention, he focused on adding size during the offseason, increasing his weight from about 153‑156 lb to 192 lb without losing speed. Head coach Jordan Stevens praised Marshall’s work in the weight room, noting the added bulk will help him drive through tackles. Marshall echoed the sentiment, saying the added strength will improve his yards after contact. The team also expects a boost from the return of running back Nick Laughlin, who recovered from knee surgery.

Marshall said, “I want to be more physical… I haven’t lost any speed or shiftiness. I gained more power,” and running backs coach Sean Green added that the staff is targeting a larger share of yards after contact this year.
