Umamusume: Pretty Derby expands reach through cosplay and MotoGP partnership

The Japanese multimedia franchise ‘Umamusume: Pretty Derby’ is expanding its presence through diverse racing-related collaborations. In Chile, Club Hipico de Santiago hosted a themed 100-metre cosplay race inspired by the franchise. The event, titled ‘Clasico Preparacion – Umamusumes de Chile’, featured 18 participants dressed as characters that combine human traits with racehorse features. This edition included cosplayers representing specific Chilean mares. Vanesa Angulo won the race, portraying a character inspired by the Chilean mare Belle Watling.

In Japan, Cygames announced that ‘Umamusume: Pretty Derby’ will serve as an official event partner for the 2026 FIM MotoGP World Championship Round 16 MOTUL Grand Prix of Japan at Mobility Resort Motegi. This marks the first time a video game has partnered with the MotoGP event. The collaboration will include a 155-metre character display and a special appearance by voice actress Tomoyo Takayanagi, who is scheduled to wave the checkered flag during the Moto3 and Moto2 races.
