Collegiate athletics: Various teams secure victories in soccer, field hockey, and golf

Various collegiate athletic teams secured victories across several sports on September 15.

In soccer, the No. 18 ranked Tufts University men's team defeated UMass Boston 3-0, fueled by two goals from Henry Brown. Norwich University's men's soccer team also earned a 2-0 shutout against SUNY Canton, with Sharmarke Hassan scoring the opening goal. Northeastern University's men's soccer team secured a 2-1 win over Central Connecticut State, featuring goals from Gus Mendieta and Anthony Rapo. In women's soccer, Union College defeated Smith College 5-2, led by an offensive surge in the second half with goals from Hannah Sams, Emily DeSousa, Addison MacDonald, and Lucy Riggs.

In field hockey, the No. 12 University of Massachusetts field hockey team remained undefeated with a 3-1 victory over No. 3 Harvard. Jenna Herbster scored the decisive goal for the Minutewomen.

In golf, the Lycoming College men's team finished second in a tri-meet at the Wyoming Valley Country Club, posting a score of 315, trailing only the University of Scranton.
