UMBAL St. George hospital expands pediatric and oncology facilities in Plovdiv

UMBAL St. George in Plovdiv is finalizing a major investment program in Bulgarian healthcare, with key new facilities expected to be operational by the end of 2026.

A central component of this expansion is a new 18,000 square meter medical and diagnostic building dedicated to pediatric and oncology services. This facility will provide 235 beds and high-tech environments for specialized treatment.

Under the leadership of Executive Director Prof. Dr. Karen Dzambazov, the hospital is also implementing several other strategic projects, including:

• A redesigned Nephrology and Dialysis Center. • A high-tech nuclear medicine base equipped with a cyclotron, PET-scan, and gamma camera. • An expanded radiotherapy center. • An updated surgical wing with modern operating rooms.

Infrastructure improvements also include a new 679-space parking garage and the introduction of a second certified helipad to facilitate rapid emergency air transport for patients across the country.
