UMBAL St. Georgi offers free ENT cancer screenings in Plovdiv

The ENT Clinic at UMBAL ‘St. Georgi’ in Plovdiv is organizing free preventive screenings for malignant diseases of the ears, nose, and throat. This initiative is part of the hospital’s ‘Health for All’ campaign.

The screenings will take place from October 5 to October 9, between 10:00 and 13:00, at the ENT Clinic (6th floor) in Base 2 of the hospital. Prior appointment is required via telephone.

The campaign aims to encourage early detection and treatment of cancers affecting the larynx, throat, oral cavity, sinuses, nose, and ears. Medical officials noted that laryngeal carcinoma is among the most common upper respiratory tract malignancies, affecting approximately 2 percent of the population. Risk factors include tobacco and alcohol use, poor oral hygiene, and infections such as HPV and Epstein-Barr virus.
