UMBAL Sveta Marina sues NHIF for over 1 million euros

The Varna Administrative Court has initiated a legal case following a lawsuit by UMBAL ‘Sveta Marina’ against the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF). The hospital is seeking over 1.16 million euros for medical services performed under contract that remain unpaid.

The claim specifically covers medical activities conducted in June and July 2026, including clinical pathways, clinical procedures, and outpatient procedures. The hospital is requesting a principal amount of 1,156,066.40 euros, plus 7,822.42 euros in late interest and additional legal interest until the debt is settled.

This marks the second lawsuit filed by the hospital against the NHIF in 2026. A previous case is already underway regarding unrecognized excess activity for the period between October 2025 and May 2026, in which the hospital is claiming approximately 1.9 million euros in principal and 63,504.38 euros in interest.
