Umberto Solimeno resigns as General Manager of Perugia Airport

Umberto Solimeno has resigned from his position as General Manager of Sase S.p.A., the company that manages the Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi International Airport in Umbria, Italy. The resignation is voluntary and cited as being for personal reasons, with the departure becoming effective on November 2, 2026.

Solimeno will continue to fulfill his duties and oversee ongoing projects until his departure date. Sase expressed gratitude for his contributions to the airport's development and traffic growth. Solimeno described his tenure as “fantastic and unforgettable years,” noting satisfaction with the increased passenger services and traffic levels achieved during his leadership.

In response to the resignation, Sase has announced it is beginning the organizational process to select a new director to lead the airport's next development phase in accordance with its industrial plan.

The announcement has prompted political scrutiny from opposition members in the Umbria Regional Council, who are seeking clarification regarding the future strategy, investments, and route programming for the airport.
