Umbrella, a fitness gym operator in Oita City, is expanding its presence in Oita Prefecture with a focus on beginner-friendly environments. The gym, which operates locations in Yokoo and Misa, aims to lower psychological barriers for new exercisers. One notable policy is a ban on tank tops, intended to prevent beginners from feeling out of place in a space that might otherwise appear to be for experienced athletes.

Approximately 90% of Umbrella's members are beginners. To support them, the gym provides free assistance with machine usage and training forms during staff hours, as well as private personal training sessions. The company plans to strengthen its ties with local organizations and corporate clients to promote health and extend healthy life expectancy within the region.
