Umbria healthcare competition begins for 122 permanent roles

A regional competition for healthcare workers has commenced in Umbria, Italy, with nearly 4,500 candidates competing for 122 permanent positions as social-health operators (OSS). The selection process began on September 3, 2026, at the Umbriafiere Maschiella center, starting with written examinations divided into morning and afternoon sessions due to the high volume of participants.

Successful candidates from the written phase will proceed to oral examinations to determine the final winners. The recruitment is managed through a unified regional procedure to efficiently distribute staff across the region's four healthcare entities. The planned distribution of the 122 positions includes 50 operators for USL Umbria 1, 50 for USL Umbria 2, 12 for the Perugia Hospital, and 10 for the Terni Hospital.

Regional authorities aim to complete all hirings by the end of 2026 to strengthen the local healthcare workforce. This unified approach follows a similar model used last year to recruit 124 nurses for the region.
