Umbria Jazz festival draws over 200,000 attendees in first weekend

The Umbria Jazz 2026 festival in Perugia recorded more than 20,000 tickets sold during its first three days and an estimated 200,000 total visitors across the city. The opening concert at the Arena Santa Giuliana featured Sting, who attracted 13,000 spectators – a record for a single evening at the venue. Other highlights included the farewell performance by Italian jazz‑rock pioneers Perigeo, a set by the supergroup Beat with Adrian Belew, Tony Levin, Steve Vai and Danny Carey, and a one‑off Italian concert by New Orleans artist Jon Batiste.

Ticket sales are nearing the festival’s historic high of 41,000 tickets. The program for the coming days lists additional headliners such as Laurie Anderson, Snarky Puppy with the Metropole Orkest, Elvis Costello and the Italian star Zucchero slated for 11 July.
