Umbria municipalities advance renewable energy initiatives
Municipalities in the Umbria region are making significant strides toward energy self-sufficiency through photovoltaic projects. Official data shows that 41 out of 92 Umbrian municipalities have successfully secured funding for 61 projects, totaling 8.8 million euros in the last two years. Major cities such as Perugia, Assisi, and Spoleto are among the participants, while Orvieto has notably failed to submit any projects for these regional funds.
In parallel, Anci Umbria is seeking formal support from the Regional government to assist local administrations in establishing Renewable Energy Communities (CER). Following a meeting coordinated by Valentino Filippetti, the association highlighted several administrative and legal hurdles. Anci Umbria plans to request a formal document from the Region to provide clear interpretive guidelines for legal and accounting aspects.
Additionally, the association intends to engage with the GSE (Gestore Servizi Energetici) to resolve technical delays and map out pending situations in various municipalities. The goal is to ensure the full operability of digital portals and provide dedicated assistance to help local governments implement sustainable, non-profit energy models.
