Umbria economic reports show manufacturing growth and municipal stability

Recent economic analyses from the Umbria region reveal a mixed landscape for local businesses and public administration. According to data from the Umbria Chamber of Commerce, the Return on Investment (ROI) for capital companies rose to 3.90% in 2024, up from 2.53% in 2019. While this remains below the national average of 4.35%, the manufacturing sector has emerged as a regional strength with an ROI of 5.28%, surpassing both Tuscany and Marche. Conversely, the tourism sector, specifically accommodation and catering, shows a significant gap compared to national averages.

On the public sector front, a conference in Perugia highlighted a positive outlook for Umbrian municipalities. Reports from the Court of Auditors indicate strong performance in urban green space availability, which stands at 100.9 square meters per inhabitant, significantly higher than the Italian average. Additionally, digital service availability in municipalities has grown from 10.9% in 2012 to 61% in 2022.

Furthermore, the Umbria Regional Assembly approved the 2025 consolidated budget, reporting a profit of 67.1 million euros, an increase from 57 million euros in 2024. The region's net worth exceeds 765 million euros, with total assets approaching 4 billion euros.
