Umbria Region introduces €70 annual school train subscriptions
The Umbria Region has introduced a new €70 annual school subscription for regional trains, extending the ‘Umbria Vai’ model previously used for public buses. This initiative, funded by half a million euros from the European Social Fund Plus, is available to students in secondary schools and vocational training programs who reside in Umbria and have an ISEE (Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator) of €30,000 or less.
The subscription is valid until June 30 for travel between a student's residence and their educational institution. Students who have already purchased more expensive seasonal passes can access the new rate by canceling their previous subscription and following Trenitalia's established refund procedures. Regional Councilor Fabio Barcaioli noted that the project was developed through collaboration between public institutions and Trenitalia to support the right to education.
