UMeWorld advances Malaysian sustainable aviation fuel project
UMeWorld Inc. has advanced its flagship sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) initiative, Project Verdant, in Malaysia into the front-end engineering design (FEED) contractor-selection phase. This follows an initial feasibility study conducted by FGE NexantECA, with a final report expected shortly.
The company has issued a request for interest (RFI) to shortlisted international engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors. Project Verdant aims to utilize hydroprocessed esters and fatty acids (HEFA) technology to achieve an initial production capacity of approximately 200,000 metric tons of SAF per year, with potential expansion to 400,000 metric tons.
A key component of the project is the integration of an on-site renewable hydrogen manufacturing unit to reduce carbon intensity and decrease reliance on fossil-derived hydrogen. The facility is designed with a multi-feedstock model, capable of processing used cooking oil (UCO) and alternative sources such as single-cell oil (SCO).
