Umhlanga Reed Dance: Princess Sakhizwe leads reed-cutting ceremony

The annual Umhlanga Reed Dance Ceremony in Eswatini has entered its third day, marked by the traditional reed-cutting exercise at Mpisi Farm. Princess Sakhizwe, the Imbali Regiment Leader, officially commenced the activity by cutting the first reed, followed by thousands of young maidens from across the country.

During the event, Princess Sakhizwe emphasized the importance of cultural preservation and encouraged participants to use the gathering as an opportunity for personal development and economic contribution. She also called for responsible media and social media coverage of the ceremony.

In a notable development, the Eswatini Nazarene Health Institution (ENHI) has sent an Imbali Regiment to participate for the first time since its establishment. While engaging in the cultural traditions, ENHI is also providing medical support on the ground to assist participants and ensure the wellbeing of the large crowds gathered for the festivities.
