UMKE teams conduct earthquake drill in Adıyaman
The National Medical Rescue Teams (UMKE), operating under the Adıyaman Provincial Health Directorate, conducted an earthquake drill to prepare for potential disasters and emergencies. The exercise was organized as part of the 2026 UMKE Activity Plan.
Thirty-two UMKE volunteers from various specialties participated in the drill, which was held in cooperation with the AFAD Search and Rescue Team. The training included both theoretical and practical studies focused on scenarios following an earthquake. The primary objectives were to enhance medical intervention capacity, increase field experience, and ensure rapid, coordinated movement within disaster zones.
Adıyaman Provincial Health Director Prof. Dr. Mehmet Şirik monitored the exercises. He emphasized that following previous major earthquakes, the region continues its efforts to maintain disaster preparedness and strengthen coordination between institutions to ensure the rapid delivery of health services during emergencies.
