UMNO implements TEKAD 16 framework for 16th General Election

UMNO is implementing the ‘TEKAD 16’ framework to prepare for Malaysia’s 16th General Election (PRU16). The strategy, introduced by UMNO President Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, focuses on five key initiatives: strengthening the party, unifying the Barisan Nasional (BN) ranks, dominating information and social media, shifting strategic approaches, and engaging the public with tangible solutions.

Party leaders emphasize that these initiatives must be translated into grassroots action rather than remaining mere political slogans. Efforts include enhancing communication through social media while maintaining face-to-face engagement to build public trust.

Regarding potential political alliances, UMNO leaders have expressed openness to discussions with other parties that share common principles, such as upholding Islam, Malay and Bumiputera interests, and defending the monarchy and the Federal Constitution. Such cooperation is viewed as a means to ensure political stability and national interest, provided it is based on shared principles rather than purely for seat allocations.
