UMNO leaders address party perceptions and internal strategy

Leaders within the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) have addressed internal party perceptions and the need for strategic resilience. Ameera Nadia Mohd Shafiee, head of the Penang Puteri UMNO movement, urged the public not to generalize the entire party as wealthy or corrupt. She stated that the new generation of UMNO members consists of ordinary citizens, including salaried workers and small business owners, who are also struggling with the rising cost of living.

Separately, during the 2026 UMNO Youth Assembly, Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican emphasized the importance of learning from both success and defeat. He urged the youth wing to draw inspiration from historical Islamic battles, specifically the spirit of Badar to build unity and the lessons of Uhud regarding obedience to leadership and the ability to recover from setbacks.
