UMNO leaders to attend 72nd PAS Annual Assembly in Kota Bharu

Two high-ranking UMNO leaders, Secretary-General Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki and Youth Chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh, are confirmed to attend the 72nd PAS Annual Assembly in Kota Bharu from September 2 to 5.

PAS Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan noted that the presence of UMNO representatives is not unprecedented, citing their participation in the 2019 assembly in Pahang during the Muafakat Nasional era. He stated that such attendance reflects the historical political connections between the two parties.

Preparations for the assembly at the Pusat Tarbiah Islamiah Kelantan (PUTIK) are reportedly 90 percent complete. Meanwhile, discussions regarding the unification of Malay-Islam political powers, specifically between PAS and UMNO, are being viewed as a strategic move to prepare for the 16th General Election (PRU16).
