UMNO urged to embrace Anwar Ibrahim’s anti-corruption efforts

Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) has stated that UMNO should be grateful for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and the Madani Government’s firm stance against corruption and abuse of power. AMK Executive member Mohd Shafiq Iqram Abdullah suggested that rather than viewing anti-corruption efforts as a threat, UMNO should use them as an opportunity to reset its political culture and shed its long-standing image of corruption.

This comes amid legal scrutiny involving former UMNO leaders, including Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim, who recently pleaded not guilty in court regarding a RM193.5 million investment case. Shafiq also noted that the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into Tabung Haji should be viewed as a transparent way to examine governance and investment decisions to protect the interests of depositors.
