Çumra Çatalhöyük Melon Festival celebrates agricultural heritage in Konya

The Çumra Çatalhöyük Melon Festival was held on August 28-29, organized by the Çumra Municipality to showcase the region's agricultural strength and cultural heritage. The event was officially opened with the participation of Konya Governor İbrahim Akın, featuring a ceremonial parade accompanied by a traditional mehter band.

Throughout the two-day event, various activities were held, including musical performances by artists such as Hüseyin Göregen and Ahmet Uçar, as well as sports competitions like taekwondo matches organized by Çumra Çatalhöyük Belediyespor. Local producers and artisans displayed products at various stands.

A key highlight of the festival was the agricultural competitions, where farmers were awarded for producing the sweetest and largest melons and watermelons. Çumra Mayor Mehmet Aydın emphasized the importance of the festival in preserving cultural values and connecting the ancient heritage of Çatalhöyük with modern agricultural production.
