UMSNH Rector announces administrative reforms and faculty tenure

Yarabí Ávila González, rector of the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo (UMSNH), has announced several administrative reforms and achievements during recent university events in Morelia, Michoacán.

As part of efforts to support graduates, the university has implemented a program through the Directorate of School Control that reduced the cost of obtaining professional titles by 57 percent. This initiative also addressed a backlog of thousands of pending degrees that existed prior to the current administration.

Additionally, under the Administrative Sustainability and Academic Strengthening Program, the university has begun issuing permanent subject appointments to faculty members. Rector Ávila noted that some professors had been waiting between 10 and 18 years for such tenure, stating that these measures aim to provide certainty to educators and benefit the student body while upholding university autonomy.
