UMSNH rector urges nursing graduates to prioritize humane patient care

Rector Yarabí Ávila González of the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo addressed graduating nursing students during the launch of clinical field assignments. She emphasized that beyond technical skills, graduates must approach patients with sensitivity, offering hope and support, especially when diagnoses are unfavorable. Ávila highlighted the partnership with the Michoacán Health Secretariat, noting that the required social service period is both a legal obligation and a learning opportunity for the new nurses.

Academic secretary Antonio Ramos Paz reinforced the call for competent yet compassionate professionals, stating that “science should guide decisions, but humanism must always guide actions.” The health authority’s sub‑director Eva Villafán Vidales also reminded students that their social service is backed by quality standards and professional mentorship.
