UN agencies report child deaths and aid destruction in Gaza

United Nations agencies have reported significant civilian casualties and the destruction of critical humanitarian resources in the Gaza Strip. UNICEF stated that at least four children, aged between two and 16, were killed in separate incidents over a five-day period. Additionally, five other children sustained life-changing injuries from live fire or shrapnel.

Strikes also caused substantial damage to aid infrastructure. More than $770,000 worth of UNICEF nutrition supplies, intended for 45,000 vulnerable individuals including children and pregnant women, were destroyed. In Deir al-Balah, a UNICEF-supported water well and desalination facility serving over 4,000 people was severely damaged, forcing partners to rely on water delivered by truck.

The World Health Organization (WHO) reported the evacuation of 106 patients and 132 companions from the region within the past week. Meanwhile, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) noted that an explosive munition detonated near a UN fuel convoy at the Kerem Shalom crossing, though no injuries were reported in that specific instance.
