UN Expert Calls Extradition of Andrew and Tristan Tate a Step Toward Accountability

United Nations special rapporteur on violence against women and girls, Reem Alsalem, welcomed the United States' extradition proceedings against British‑American influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate. She described the case as a significant step toward holding the brothers accountable for serious allegations of violence against women and girls, noting their global influence in promoting misogyny.

The Tate brothers were arrested in Miami after a UK extradition request and remain in US custody while challenging the request. They face 59 criminal charges, including rape, sexual assault, sex‑trafficking, and offenses related to child sexual exploitation. Alsalem urged the governments of the United States, the United Kingdom and Romania to ensure that the brothers and any accomplices are brought to justice, emphasizing that no one should be above the law.
