UN experts denounce ongoing violence in Gaza as peace plan is rejected

United Nations human rights experts have issued a joint statement claiming that “the genocide continues without truce” in Gaza. According to the experts, more than 1,200 Palestinians have died since a ceasefire took effect in October 2025. The report notes that approximately 160 Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces in July alone, with most deaths occurring in densely populated areas inhabited by displaced persons, well beyond the designated “yellow line” where the Israeli army had supposedly withdrawn.

The experts, including UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese, highlighted that entire residential blocks are being evacuated shortly before being destroyed by combat aircraft. They stated that the systematic demolition of buildings and the construction of a 23-kilometer barrier are forcibly redesigning Gaza’s geography through displacement. The statement also condemned attacks on hospitals, shelters, police, and UN personnel, as well as the restricted entry of nutritional food aid.

In a separate development, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected a 15-point peace plan. National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir supported the rejection, characterizing the peace efforts as deceptive and stating that security cannot be guaranteed through such agreements.
