UN Representative Dian delivers Guterres message in Cyprus

Kassim Dian, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and head of the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus, delivered a message from Secretary-General António Guterres during a UN Open House event in Nicosia.

Guterres emphasized that the future of humanity depends on the ability to cooperate to promote peace, development, and human rights. He noted that for 81 years, the United Nations has worked to resolve disputes through diplomacy and law rather than weapons, while addressing poverty, hunger, and displacement.

The Secretary-General highlighted that the world is currently facing significant challenges, including conflicts, the climate crisis, increasing inequality, and rapidly evolving technologies. He called on all nations to reaffirm their commitment to the values of the UN Charter, advocating for dialogue over division and cooperation over confrontation.
