Prabowo Subianto hosts UN Secretary-General Guterres to discuss multilateral reform

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto hosted United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres at his presidential retreat in Hambalang, Bogor, to discuss multilateral cooperation and global stability. The bilateral meeting focused on the reform of the multilateral system, progress toward the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and regional issues, including the situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

Guterres expressed appreciation for Indonesia's commitment to multilateralism and its contributions to UN peacekeeping operations. He also commended Indonesia's leadership in climate action and innovative development financing. During the visit, Indonesian Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Nasir emphasized the urgent need for UN reform to ensure the organization remains relevant and representative of the current multipolar geopolitical reality, particularly regarding the composition of the UN Security Council.

As part of his itinerary, Guterres was scheduled to visit the Indonesian National Armed Forces' Peacekeeping Center in Bogor to honor personnel serving in UN missions. The visit also served as a farewell from Guterres, whose term as Secretary-General is set to conclude at the end of 2026.
